UK Added to Tribunal Procurement Rules

Summary#

This final regulation adds the United Kingdom to the list of CPTPP members in the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Procurement Inquiry Regulations. That lets the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) handle complaints from Canadian and UK suppliers about federal procurements covered by the UK's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The regulation was registered on June 22, 2026 and published in the Canada Gazette on July 1, 2026; it comes into force when section 23 of An Act to implement the Protocol on the Accession of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership comes into force, or on registration if that is later.

What it does#

• Adds the United Kingdom to Part 10 of the schedule to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal Procurement Inquiry Regulations so the UK is treated as a CPTPP member in those rules.
• Allows the Canadian International Trade Tribunal to conduct procurement inquiries into complaints by Canadian and UK suppliers about federal contracts covered by the UK’s Accession Protocol to the CPTPP.
• Is a consequential change to give domestic effect to the UK’s accession, following the implementing Act described above.
