Broadway Subway moves closer to opening with trackwork nearly done

Trackwork on the Broadway Subway extension is expected to be complete this week. The 5.7-kilometre Millennium Line extension is scheduled to open for passenger service in fall 2027.

• Route: VCC-Clark to Arbutus, with six new underground stations.
• Travel time: The trip is expected to take 11 minutes, saving the average transit commuter almost 30 minutes a day.
• Current road access: Two blocks of West Broadway between Alberta and Cambie streets are closed to vehicles. Transit and vehicle detours use 8th Avenue; pedestrian access to businesses, services and homes remains open.
• Reopening: West Broadway is expected to fully reopen to vehicles in January 2027.
