Valuation for Duty Regulations: Contact Correction

Summary#

This is an erratum (correction) published July 22, 2023 for the notice about the Regulations Amending the Valuation for Duty Regulations that first appeared on May 27, 2023. It only fixes contact details for sending comments — changing the named contact, mailing address, and email — and does not change the substance of the proposed regulations.

What it does#

• Replaces the contact name listed under “Contact” from Janine Harker to Valerie Dinis.
• Rewrites a sentence in the “Proposed regulatory text” section so that people who submit comments by mail or email are now told to send them to Valerie Dinis, Acting Director, at the new office address and email:
  • new office: 100 Metcalfe Street, 10th Floor, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0L8
  • new email: CBSA.OCT/CECO.ASFC@cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
• Keeps the previous encouragement to use the online commenting feature on the Canada Gazette website.
• The notice lists the statutory authority as the Customs Act and the sponsoring agency as the Canada Border Services Agency.

Who's affected#

• People and groups planning to comment on the proposed changes to the Valuation for Duty Regulations, such as importers, customs brokers, trade lawyers, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
• Anyone who might have used the old contact details (for example, the address at 191 Laurier Avenue West or the older email) and needs to redirect their submission to the new contact.

Why it matters#

• It prevents comments or questions from being sent to the wrong person or address. That helps ensure feedback reaches the right official at the Canada Border Services Agency.
