Official petition
Petition to the Government of Canada WHEREAS • Streamkeepers throughout the province of British Columbia are committed volunteers that deserve certainty for funding support from the Salmon Enhancement Program (SEP) beyond the current budget end of March 31 2026. • The Salmon Enhancement Program (SEP) collaborates with the Pacific Streamkeepers Federation in training that ensures that community volunteers are able protect and improve aquatic health, habitat status, land use and stock assessment with their communities. The SEP provides for DFO Community Advisors and DFO technical support personnel and is absolutely critical for the functioning of Streamkeepers groups. THEREFORE We, the undersigned citizens and permanent residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to reconsider the proposed $544 Million cuts to DFO in the recently passed budget and urge the House of Commons to ensure that no cuts are made to the Salmon Enhancement Program (SEP).
