Reverse MAID eligibility for mental illness
AI summary
This petition to the House of Commons asks MPs to support Bill C-218 to reverse the law that extended medical assistance in dying (MAID) eligibility to people whose sole medical condition is a mental illness. Petitioners say Canadians with mental illness should receive treatment and support, that mental illness can include suicidal thoughts, and that allowing MAID on the basis of mental illness alone would put lives at risk—especially where treatment and supports are not readily available; the petition includes no government response.
