Reverse MAID eligibility for mental illness
AI summary
Petitioners ask the House of Commons to support Bill C-218 to reverse the law that extended medical assistance in dying (MAID) eligibility to people whose sole medical condition is a mental illness. They contend that mental illness is complex, can include suicidal thoughts, and that allowing MAID for mental illness alone puts lives at risk, especially where treatment and support are not readily available. The petition does not include a government response.
