Recognize and fund WCCRP
Petitioners ask the Government of Canada to recognize the West Coast Corridor Resiliency Partnership as a strategic partner and commit predictable, multi-year federal funding to strengthen transportation, flood mitigation and other critical corridor infrastructure.
Why we would sign this petition
- Creates a formal partnership role so planning and delivery of nationally significant corridor infrastructure can be coordinated with regional and Indigenous partners.
- Provides predictable, multi‑year federal funding that enables long-term transport and flood‑mitigation projects requiring sustained investment.
- Prioritizes protection of trade and transportation corridors, improving disaster preparedness and reducing future disruptions to the movement of goods and emergency response.
Why we wouldn’t sign this petition
- Requires significant federal funding that may compete with other national priorities, raising questions about affordability and trade‑offs.
- Designating one regional partnership as a strategic partner risks favouring a specific region and could duplicate existing federal, provincial or local programs.
- Predictable multi‑year funding and expedited project choices may be difficult to deliver and could lack clear accountability or selection criteria.
