Stop Canada Post cuts
Petitioners ask the Government of Canada to stop planned Canada Post service cuts and immediately launch a fully transparent public mandate review of Canada Post allowing meaningful input from all stakeholders.
Why we would sign this petition
- Would protect seniors, people with disabilities and rural or remote communities who rely on door-to-door delivery and local post offices.
- Would help preserve quality postal jobs and the local employment that supports communities.
- Would increase transparency and allow stakeholders meaningful input on Canada Post’s mandate and service decisions.
Why we wouldn’t sign this petition
- Maintaining current services could be costly and may require subsidies that compete with other public priorities.
- Argument exists that operational reforms or modernization are needed for long‑term viability, so stopping cuts may merely delay necessary change.
- A full public mandate review could be lengthy and delay implementation of efficiency measures, prolonging uncertainty about service levels.

Official petition
Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament Assembled Whereas Canada Post and the governing Liberals are taking an axe to long-treasured postal services - eliminating good jobs, eliminating door-to-door delivery, lowering mail delivery standards, and removing the moratorium preventing the closure of rural post offices. Whereas Canada Post has submitted its plan for these cuts to the Government, but it has not been released publicly. Whereas these cuts will hurt seniors and disabled Canadians in particular, who represent over 40% of the population, as well as rural, remote and Indigenous communities, four million households will also lose door-to- door delivery over the next three to five years, and thousands of workers will lose their jobs. Whereas the Government of Canada has instructed Canada Post to cut services based on an Industrial Inquiry Commission report produced with limited input from the public - its main stakeholder - and which rejected service expansion recommendations of those who did participate, and; Whereas Canada Post offers a public service that needs to be protected. Therefore we, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to stop the postal service cuts, and to immediately launch a fully transparent public mandate review of Canada Post that allows all stakeholders to provide meaningful input.
