Petition to the Government of Canada This government seeks to diversify Canada's trading partners, doubling non-U.S. exports by 2035; Polling has found strong support among Canadians for increased non-U.S. trade; The vast majority of countries use metric units as their principal measurement system for commerce; and Alignment on weights and measures can facilitate trade. We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to: 1. Phase out the commercial use of Schedule II units under the Weights and Measures Act, including pricing, packaging, advertising, billing, and measurement devices used in trade; 2. Phase out the use of Schedule II units in federal communications, digital services, and procurement; and 3. Require consumer products sold in Canada that display measurements to display Schedule I units by default.
