The expansion is set to double terminal capacity, create thousands of construction jobs, and link to a pipeline upgrade scheduled to start construction next year.

- Pipeline: TC Energy has made a final investment decision on Coastal GasLink Phase 2, which will double the pipeline’s existing capacity. Construction is expected to start next year.
- Indigenous participation: Five First Nations have an option to invest up to $1 billion for a majority ownership stake in the expansion’s new LNG storage tank.
- Emissions: The release says the Kitimat operation is expected to have lower greenhouse gas emissions than any facility of a similar size operating today.
