Drivers face bridge closures and lane restrictions across the province
Detours and traffic controls affect routes in several counties, with some work continuing until May 2027.
Summary
Road and bridge projects are affecting travel across several counties. Check signs and allow extra time where traffic control is in place.
Full closures and service interruptions
- Campbell Brook Bridge on Keltic Drive is closed until December 20; Catalone Lake Truss Bridge until November 30; and Jewells Bridge until October 30. Detours are posted or identified in the advisory.
- Barnhill Bridge and Upham Bridge are closed until further notice. The Edmund Lynds Bridge is closed until November 30.
- Moore’s Ford Bridge and Welsford Bridge are closed until further notice. Stellarton Intervale Bridge is closed in both directions as a precaution, with a detour via Highway 104.
- The Country Harbour cable ferry is out of service until late October for its required inspection and maintenance.
Lane restrictions and roadwork
- Highway 103 between Hubbards and Chester has temporary lane closures for blasting until May 2027. Both directions close for about 10 minutes at a time, usually on weekdays around 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; there is no blasting on weekends, holidays, or after noon on Fridays and days before holidays.
- Highway 102 between Exits 7 and 8 may be reduced to one lane in either direction until October 31. The Port Hastings rotary section of Highway 104 is reduced to one lane for repaving until October 31, with overnight work Sunday to Thursday.
- Alternating lane closures are in place on Route 311 at the Edmund Lynds Bridge, Route 344 near Aulds Cove, Route 374 in Hopewell, and several local roads. The Salmon River Truss Bridge has alternating lane closures until October 15.
- Other lane restrictions affect Cenotaph Road, Little Mabou Road, Mabou Bridge, South Bishop Road, Raynardton Road and Trunk 3. End dates range from October 16 to December 15.
