Nova Scotia funds 17 mineral projects with $1.5 million
The 2026–27 fund supports exploration, research and learning projects aimed at better understanding Nova Scotia’s mineral resources.
Summary
Nova Scotia is providing $1.5 million in 2026–27 for 17 projects through the Mineral Resources Development Fund. The projects aim to improve understanding of the province’s mineral resources and support their responsible development.
Examples of funding include:
- $100,000 for drilling at the West Gore Antimony Project in Hants County.
- $61,130 for Saint Mary’s University student research on critical mineral deposits, particularly lithium, in southwestern Nova Scotia.
- $8,000 for earth science learning kits for teachers and students in Cumberland County.
Established in 2018, the fund has supported more than 450 projects with about $12 million in total funding.
