Pilot brings long-term care home services into three more communities

What happened

• The Community Access to Long-Term Care (CALTC) pilot is expanding to three new sites: Four Seasons Lodge (Deep River), Craigholme (Ailsa Craig) and Woodingford Lodge (Woodstock).

Who this affects

• People aged 65+ who are on the long-term care waitlist, are eligible for long-term care, or will soon be eligible.

Services offered

• Clinical and personal care delivered by long-term care homes in the community, including nursing support, dementia care, wound care, foot care, bathing, vitals monitoring, physiotherapy, social work support, and social/recreational programming.

By the numbers

• The program’s initial three sites recorded more than 10,000 visits in its first year.
• The expansion builds on the province’s broader long-term care plan, which includes 58,000 new and upgraded beds (as stated in the release).
