Hamilton steel-sector workers get training and job-transition support

A local project will help 75 workers and jobseekers build skills and connect with training for in-demand work.

Summary

Ontario and Canada are providing $203,735 for Learning Connections Hamilton’s Skill Pathways for Work project. It will support 75 workers and jobseekers affected by disruption in Hamilton’s steel and manufacturing sectors.

The project provides skills assessments, individual training plans, digital skills upgrading, training referrals and case management. It also helps participants access certifications and short-term training.

The funding comes through Skills Advance Ontario and the Canada-Ontario Workforce Tariff Response. The wider response provides $228.8 million over three years for training and employment supports for up to 27,000 workers across Ontario affected by tariffs and global market shifts.
