CO alarms required in every Saskatchewan multi-unit suite by Nov. 1
By November 1, landlords and property owners must ensure every suite in a multi-unit residential building has a carbon monoxide alarm, regardless of nearby fuel-burning appliances.
Summary
Starting November 1, 2026, Henry’s Law requires a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm in every residential suite in a Saskatchewan multi-unit building. The rule applies regardless of how close a suite is to a fuel-burning appliance.
Landlords and property owners must ensure their buildings meet the new standard. CO cannot be detected by human senses, and an alarm can provide an early warning of dangerous levels.
