Estevan inquest into Justice Guillas’s death set for November 2–6

A public inquest will examine the 2023 death of 19-year-old Justice Guillas after he was shot at an Estevan police station.

Summary

A public inquest into the death of 19-year-old Justice Guillas is scheduled for November 2–6, 2026, at the Western Star, 303 Kensington Avenue, in Estevan.

Guillas was shot during an altercation at the Estevan police station after his arrest on November 1, 2023. He died during surgery that day.

The inquest will establish who died, when and where the death occurred, and its medical cause and manner. The jury may make recommendations to help prevent similar deaths. Coroner Brent Gough, K.C., will preside. The first day is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.; later start times will be set by the presiding coroner.
