Pinehouse starts building six affordable family rentals

Construction is underway on the Pinehouse Housing Corporation’s six-unit rental development. The homes are designed for low-income families and households needing smaller accommodation.

• What’s being built: Six two-bedroom affordable rental units in Pinehouse.
• Project funding: $951,600 through the National Housing Strategy–Saskatchewan Priorities Initiative; $526,633 through Reaching Home; $196,863 from Pinehouse Housing Corporation; and $15,000 in land equity from the Northern Village of Pinehouse.
• Total investment: More than $1.67 million.

The project adds to affordable housing in the community. Saskatchewan Housing Corporation says it has supported 44 affordable rental units and improvements to five shelter spaces in Pinehouse since November 2007.
