Saskatchewan harvest reaches 41% as wet weather slows work

Saskatchewan farmers had harvested 41 per cent of crops by September 21. That is below the five-year average of 82 per cent and the 10-year average of 73 per cent.

• The southwest was furthest along at 67 per cent; the northeast was at 24 per cent.
• Winter rye was 99 per cent harvested, lentils 92 per cent and field peas 91 per cent. Canola was 26 per cent harvested.
• Rain and wet fields slowed harvest in parts of the province. High humidity and wet conditions are also affecting the quality of some crops still in the field.
• The report says warmer temperatures over the weekend and coming week should help harvest progress.
