SOUND Pesticide Research Act

Summary#

This bill would change the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act so the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) must rely on comprehensive data from a multigenerational reproductive toxicity study that includes at least four generations when establishing, modifying, leaving in effect, or revoking a tolerance or exemption for a pesticide chemical residue. The bill requires the EPA Administrator to determine within 180 days whether existing determinations meet this requirement. The EPA must send Congress a report within two years identifying determinations reviewed, updated, or changed because of this amendment.
