Sunlight on SuperPACs Act

Summary#

The bill would require certain political ads paid for by qualifying independent expenditure committees to include a list of their top three funders. For each listed funder that is a political committee, the ad must also list that committee’s top two funders. The disclosure includes payment amounts. The requirements would apply to communications made on or after January 1, 2027.

What it means for you#

If you see a covered ad that advocates for or against a clearly identified candidate, or qualifies as an electioneering communication, it would include information about major funders. The rules would apply to committees that make at least $10,000 in independent expenditures in a calendar year or give at least $10,000 to other independent expenditure committees in that year.
