Pesticide Transparency on Federal Land Act

Summary#

The bill would require a public database of pesticide applications on land owned or managed by federal agencies. Agencies would report the applicator, location, pesticide and active ingredient, date, and purpose within five days. The database would also include certain earlier records. Information could be withheld from the public for national security reasons for up to one year at a time, with notice to Congress. A person could bring a civil action over an agency’s failure to report.

What it means for you#

You could use the database to see where and when pesticides were used on federal land, and why. Some information could be temporarily withheld for national security reasons. The bill would allow civil actions against agencies that fail to report.

Expenses#

The bill does not specify costs or funding amounts. It would require a database, agency reporting, and regulations.
