Delivering for Rural Seniors Act of 2025

Summary#

The bill would create a grant program to help deliver food commodities from the Commodity Supplemental Food Program to older, low-income participants at home. State agencies could apply for grants and pass funds to local or subdistributing agencies. Projects serving participants in rural areas would receive priority. The program would also collect information on deliveries, costs, and results.

What it means for you#

If you are an older participant in the food program, a funded project in your area could make food delivery to your home available. The bill does not guarantee delivery to every participant.

Expenses#

The bill would authorize $10 million per year for fiscal years 2026 through 2028, with funds available until spent. A state grant could not exceed the smaller of $4 million or $60 multiplied by the state's program caseload at the time of application.
