Climate and Health Protection Act

Summary#

The bill would require the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to continue its Climate and Health program. The program would share climate science with governments and communities, create tools to help prepare for climate change, and support planning for climate-related public health effects. If a successor program is established, the agency must notify Congress about any funds transferred or reprogrammed to create it. The bill would authorize $110 million for fiscal year 2026 and each year after that, and bar those funds from being shifted to another program run by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

What it means for you#

The program would provide information and planning tools to governments, health departments, and communities. The bill does not describe a direct service or benefit for individuals.

Expenses#

The bill would authorize $110 million for the program in fiscal year 2026 and each fiscal year thereafter. Authorization does not itself provide the funds.
