The bill would authorize one Congressional Gold Medal for Jens Stoltenberg, recognizing his contributions to NATO’s security, unity, and defense. The Treasury Secretary would decide the medal’s design. The bill also allows bronze duplicate medals to be made and sold.
The bill does not describe a direct benefit or action for the public. It authorizes an award to Stoltenberg and the sale of bronze duplicates.
The bill authorizes medal costs to be paid from the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund. Bronze duplicates must be sold at a price that covers their costs, and sale proceeds would go back into that fund. No total cost is stated.
The bill’s stated reason for the award is Stoltenberg’s contributions to NATO. Its findings cite his leadership, support for member cooperation and defense spending, and efforts to maintain NATO unity.
