Exported Carbon Emissions Reporting

Summary#

The bill would require the Environmental Protection Agency to publish annual information about carbon dioxide and methane emissions for each of the previous ten calendar years. The information would cover emissions from fossil fuel activities inside the United States and emissions outside the country from leakage and burning of U.S.-produced or refined fossil fuels that are exported. The EPA would use the best available science, consult with the Energy Information Administration and International Energy Agency, and post the information on its website.

What it means for you#

The public would be able to view the published emissions information on the EPA website. The bill does not set rules for individual consumers or businesses.
