USS Frank E. Evans Act

Summary#

This bill directs the Secretary of Defense to authorize adding the names of the 74 crew members of the USS Frank E. Evans who were killed on June 3, 1969, to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in the District of Columbia. The Secretary must do this within one year after the bill becomes law. The Secretary of Defense must consult with the Secretary of the Interior, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, and other relevant authorities about name placement and wording if there are space limits. The bill says the Commemorative Works Act (chapter 89 of title 40, U.S. Code) does not apply to these actions.
