Reverse Transfer Efficiency Act

Summary#

This bill amends section 444(b)(1) of the General Education Provisions Act (20 U.S.C. 1232g(b)(1)). It allows a postsecondary institution where a student was previously enrolled to receive that student's postsecondary coursework and credit records. The receiving institution may use those records to apply coursework and credits toward completion of a recognized postsecondary credential, as defined in section 3 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (29 U.S.C. 3102). The release of records is allowed only if the student gives written consent before receiving the credential.
