Thomas M. Conway Veterans Access to Resources in the Workplace Act

Summary#

This Act requires the Secretary of Labor, working with the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, to create and publish a state-specific notice that lists benefits available to veterans. The notice must be ready within 270 days of enactment, include the Veterans Crisis Line, explain how to apply for the listed benefits, and include state-law benefits when a State provides that information. Notices must be published on the Department of Labor and Department of Veterans Affairs websites and designed to fit on an 8.5 x 11 inch page. The Secretary must review and update each notice at least twice a year and give States chances to provide or update state information. Employers must post the notice in conspicuous places where employee notices are usually shown. The requirement to display the notice takes effect one year after enactment. The Act also calls for a 180-day information campaign to tell employers about the notice and posting requirement. The term "employer" for posting includes entities that employ 50 or more employees and specifically includes public agencies, the Government Accountability Office, and the Library of Congress.
