Summary#

This bill would change a federal firearms rule (18 U.S.C. 922(q)) to add exceptions for certain active and retired law enforcement officers. It adds clauses saying that a "qualified law enforcement officer" under section 926B, and a "qualified retired law enforcement officer" under section 926C, may carry a concealed firearm in a school zone if they are authorized under those sections. It also adds those same officers to the list of people who may lawfully discharge a firearm in a school zone when authorized.
