This bill requires the Secretary of the Interior to do a special resource study of the Camden Battlefield area in South Carolina. The study area includes the site of the Battle of Camden (August 16, 1780) and Historic Camden. The study must evaluate the area's national significance and whether it is suitable and feasible to become a unit of the National Park System called "Camden National Battlefield Park." The study must also: identify ways to protect and interpret the area (by the National Park Service, other federal or state or local governments, or private or nonprofit groups); assess whether a local partnership model and existing management can be used; and provide cost estimates for any federal development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance. The Secretary must consult with federal agencies, state and local governments, private and nonprofit groups, and other interested people. The study must follow section 100507 of title 54, United States Code. A report with the study results and any recommendations must be sent to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee within 3 years after funds are first made available.
