Keep SNAP and WIC Funded Act of 2025

Summary#

For fiscal year 2026, the bill would provide funds to keep SNAP benefits, related block grants, and the WIC program running during a lapse in Department of Agriculture appropriations. It would also cover missed benefits from September 30, 2025, through the date the bill is enacted. The funds would be available until new fiscal year 2026 appropriations are enacted or September 30, 2026, whichever comes first. The Agriculture Secretary would reimburse states for eligible program costs during the funding lapse.

What it means for you#

If you receive SNAP or WIC benefits, the bill would provide funding to prevent interruptions during a lapse in Agriculture Department appropriations and to cover missed benefits. It does not change program eligibility rules.

Expenses#

The bill specifies no dollar amount. It would provide whatever amounts are necessary from Treasury funds not otherwise appropriated. Spending would be charged to the relevant appropriation, fund, or authorization once enacted.
