This bill changes parts of the American Battlefield Protection Program in title 54 of the U.S. Code. It extends the authorization date for the Battlefield Acquisition Grant Program from 2028 to 2035. It amends two grant programs (Battlefield Interpretation Modernization and Battlefield Restoration) by changing the number "50" to "75" in their text and removing one subsection from the interpretation program. For the restoration and interpretation grants, it authorizes $2,000,000 for each fiscal year through 2035. The bill also directs the National Park Service to prepare studies of sites and structures in the United States related to the French and Indian War (1754–1763) and the Mexican–American War (1846–1848). Those studies must identify sites, evaluate their significance, assess threats, and offer preservation and interpretation options, including possible National Park System designation. The Secretary must consider earlier studies, consult with governors, affected Tribes, local governments, the American Battlefield Trust and other preservation groups, and submit a report to Congress within two years after funds are made available.
