This bill aligns the federal Job Corps job-training program with the needs of the defense industrial base (for example, shipbuilding). It directs the Department of Defense (through a program called the National Imperative for Industrial Skills) to expand use of Job Corps centers and apprenticeships to train workers for defense-related industrial jobs. The bill also changes how Job Corps can accept outside grants and donations, adjusts some enrollment and background-check rules for veterans and recruits, and makes Job Corps eligible for a shipbuilding-related incentive.
