Federal agencies must connect high-use services to America.gov
The order directs agencies to connect qualifying online services to a shared portal while keeping other ways to access services available.
Summary
The order directs the General Services Administration to establish America.gov as a shared online entry point for federal information and services, and to integrate Login.gov for sign-in.
- Services covered: Public-facing federal services used by more than 100,000 people in 12 months and available online. IRS tax filing and services from the Department of War and Intelligence Community are excluded; OMB may change the list.
- Next step: OMB must issue agency implementation guidance within 90 days. Agencies must identify covered services, connect them securely to the portal, and report usage and performance data.
- Privacy and access: Agencies retain control of their records and responsibilities. In-person, phone, mail, and agency-specific online options remain available.
