Waste-sector group joins Ontario’s emergency response network

Waste to Resource Ontario (W2RO) is joining Ontario Corps, bringing waste-management expertise to emergency planning and response.

• W2RO can advise on sorting and disposing of hazardous materials and organic debris, transportation and processing costs, and opportunities to streamline emergency waste-facility permits.
• Ontario Corps can mobilize within 24 to 72 hours. Volunteers receive training and are matched with partner organizations based on their skills, interests and availability.
• W2RO represents more than 240 organizations that manage over 85% of Ontario’s waste and 90% of its recycling.
