Highway 400 Expansion Moves Into Detailed Design

An 11-kilometre stretch between Highway 9 and the future Bradford Bypass is planned to gain general-purpose and HOV lanes in both directions.

Summary

Ontario has awarded AECOM a contract to complete the detailed design for widening Highway 400 between Highway 9 and the future Bradford Bypass. The 11-kilometre section is planned to expand from six lanes to 10.

  • Planned lanes: One general-purpose lane and one HOV lane in each direction.
  • Other design work: Culverts, signs, drainage and storm sewers, lighting, and interchange ramps.
  • HOV connection: The new lanes would connect to existing HOV lanes south of Highway 9.

The release announces a design contract; it does not give a construction schedule for this widening.
