Public inquest into Saul Laliberte’s death set for October 2026
The five-day inquest in Prince Albert will examine Laliberte’s death in a police cell and may recommend ways to prevent similar deaths.
Summary
A public inquest into Saul Laliberte’s death is scheduled for October 26–30, 2026, at the Coronet Hotel in Prince Albert. The first day is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.; later start times will be set by the presiding coroner.
Laliberte, 33, was found unresponsive in a cell at the Prince Albert Police Service on November 7, 2021, and later died at Victoria Hospital.
The inquest will establish who died, when and where the death occurred, and its medical cause and manner. The jury may make recommendations to help prevent similar deaths. Coroner Frederick Kovach will preside.
