Borçelik Corrosion-Resistant Steel Investigation

Summary#

On December 5, 2024, the Canada Border Services Agency opened an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act into whether Borçelik Çelik Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş (Borçelik) dumped corrosion-resistant steel sheet from the Republic of Türkiye into Canada. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will hold a preliminary inquiry and must decide within 60 days whether there is a reasonable indication of injury to Canadian industry.

What it does#

• Starts an anti-dumping investigation into corrosion-resistant flat-rolled steel sheet allegedly exported to Canada by Borçelik Çelik Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş (Borçelik).
• Identifies the subject goods by product description and a set of tariff classification numbers (the full list and product definition are on the Canada Border Services Agency website).
• Sends the case to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) for a preliminary inquiry. The CITT has 60 days from initiation to decide whether the evidence shows a reasonable indication of injury.
• Invites written submissions from interested parties. The Canada Border Services Agency must receive them by April 15, 2025 to be considered.
• States that a Statement of Reasons will be published within 15 days after the CITT decision.
