Disaster Loan Outreach Consistency Act

Summary#

This bill requires the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) to set up procedures so that disaster loan outreach materials from each disaster field operations center are consistent and current. Within 180 days of enactment, the Administrator must make sure press releases, fact sheets, and similar materials include accurate information about the terms of the SBA disaster loan program under section 7(b), any changes to disaster assistance eligibility rules that matter to applicants, and any other information the Administrator decides is needed.

The procedures must include standardized templates for outreach materials; a verification step so materials use the templates and reflect current loan terms and eligibility before public release; an annual review and an immediate review after major changes to the procedures to keep materials consistent across field centers; and any other procedures the Administrator sets. The Administrator must notify the House and Senate Small Business Committees within 30 days after creating or significantly changing these procedures.

What it means for you#

  • If you apply for an SBA disaster loan: outreach materials (press releases, fact sheets) should follow the same templates and state the current loan terms and eligibility rules.
  • If you work at an SBA disaster field operations center: you will use standardized templates, verify materials before release, and follow annual and post-change reviews.
  • If you oversee or track SBA disaster work: the Administrator will send a notice to the House and Senate Small Business Committees after setting up or significantly changing the procedures.
