Tropospheric Ozone Research Act

Summary#

This bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to set up a competitive grant program to fund research on tropospheric ozone and its climate, health, crop, and ecosystem impacts. The research topics include how tropospheric ozone and its precursors affect global and regional temperatures, heat stress, crop losses, forest and ecosystem productivity, and interactions with other pollutants. The program must also support improvements to monitoring and observation systems, data integration with satellites and models, and model development. Data collected must be made publicly available. The EPA must collaborate internationally, award grants to eligible research institutions, and produce an agency report within four years describing findings and recommendations.
