Federal Cyber Workforce Training Act

Summary#

The bill would require the National Cyber Director to submit a public plan for a federal institute that trains federal cyber workers and staff who manage their hiring and careers. The plan would cover role-based training, hands-on learning, online and in-person options, and training for workers entering or moving into mid-career cyber jobs. It would also address how the institute could be organized, staffed, and funded. The Director must submit the plan within 180 days of enactment and brief specified congressional committees within 270 days.

What it means for you#

The bill proposes planning for training federal cyber workers, including people without a college degree or a cyber-related degree. It does not itself establish the institute or require anyone to take its training.

Expenses#

The bill authorizes no additional funds. The plan must estimate the funding and new authorities needed to establish and operate the institute.
