SBIR/STTR Innovation Workforce Act

Summary#

The bill would let federal agencies award grants or other funding to small businesses that have received a Phase II SBIR or STTR award. The businesses could use the funds to offer fellowships and internships for undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral participants in fields important to the agency. Agencies making awards would have to increase outreach to women and socially or economically disadvantaged people. They could also work with experienced nonprofit organizations to support that outreach. The bill was referred to the House Small Business Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
