Keep America Flying Act

Summary#

The Keep America Flying Act would provide money for regular pay and benefits for air traffic controllers, certain other essential Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) workers, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening and security staff during a fiscal year 2026 funding gap. It would also pay contractors who support those workers, if agency officials determine they qualify. The funding would end when related appropriations are enacted, when an appropriations law excludes these purposes, or on September 30, 2026, whichever happens first. The bill would take effect as if enacted on September 30, 2025. It was referred to the House Committee on Appropriations.

What it means for you#

If there is a funding gap, covered FAA and TSA workers could receive their regular pay and benefits under this bill. It does not describe direct payments or services for the public.

Expenses#

The bill does not state a dollar amount. It provides sums as needed and says spending would be charged to the related appropriation, fund, or authorization when enacted.
