We Want Our Healthcare Money Back Act

Summary#

The bill would require the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services to report on Medicare and Medicaid fraud every three months. The first report would be due within three months of the bill’s enactment. Reports would continue until two years after enactment and go to four congressional committees. Each report would cover a recent three-month period and list investigations, related criminal prosecutions and civil actions, alleged fraud amounts and charges, and people or organizations excluded from federal health care programs due to fraud-related conduct.

What it means for you#

The bill would require regular reporting to Congress. It would not itself change Medicare or Medicaid benefits, eligibility, or services.

Expenses#

The bill authorizes no additional funding. It directs the department and Inspector General to use amounts already appropriated to them.
