This bill directs the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) to require small business development centers (SBDCs) and MBDA Business Centers to collaborate to better serve small business concerns. The collaboration must begin within 180 days of enactment. Within two years of enactment, the SBA Administrator and MBDA Director must submit a joint report to Congress. The report must summarize the collaboration, describe challenges, list the number of consultations, educational and outreach activities, the number of small businesses served and started, jobs created or supported, the dollar amount of financial assistance provided as a result of the collaboration, and any recommendations to improve collaboration. The bill also provides definitions by reference to the Small Business Act and the Minority Business Development Act of 2021.
If you run or start a small business, this bill directs local SBDCs and MBDA Business Centers to work together and coordinate services. The required report will show how many businesses and jobs those centers served or helped start, how much financial assistance resulted, and what challenges the centers faced.
