No Bailouts for Cashless Bail Jurisdictions Act

Summary#

The bill would bar federal funds from going to a jurisdiction that the Attorney General determines has substantially eliminated cash bail for a covered offense. The Attorney General would make and publish these determinations within 30 days of enactment and at least every three months after that. A jurisdiction could receive federal funds again after 180 days from the first determination, or when the Attorney General finds it no longer substantially eliminates cash bail, whichever is later.

Covered offenses include violent crimes, sex offenses, burglary, vandalism, looting, and other offenses the Attorney General considers appropriate.
