TICKER Act

Summary#

The TICKER Act would require national securities exchanges to mark consolidated variable interest entities in their exchange symbols. Within 180 days of enactment, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would also have to require brokers and dealers to warn investors that they may lack legal recourse when investing in these entities.

What it means for you#

If you invest in a covered entity listed on a national securities exchange, its exchange symbol would identify it as a covered entity. Brokers and dealers would also have to warn you that you may lack legal recourse. The bill defines covered entities as consolidated variable interest entities.
