Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act of 2025

Summary#

The bill directs the United States Governor of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to support Taiwan's admission as an IMF member if Taiwan seeks it. It also directs the Governor to support Taiwan's participation in IMF economic reviews, employment opportunities for Taiwan nationals, and access to technical help and training. The bill states that the United States should not discourage Taiwan from seeking membership. The Treasury Secretary may waive these requirements for up to one year at a time if the Secretary reports that doing so would substantially promote Taiwan's meaningful participation in international financial institutions. The requirements end if Taiwan is admitted to the IMF or 10 years after the bill becomes law, whichever comes first. For seven years, the Treasury Secretary must also report to Congress on U.S. efforts to support Taiwan's participation in these institutions.
