The city council authorized a service loan agreement between the City of Montreal and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to second a police resource from the SPVM to the national team supporting the enforcement of the Firearms Act for three years, starting March 30, 2026. It also authorized an additional budget equivalent of revenues and expenses for 2026 of $136,260, an adjustment to the budget base for subsequent years, and the temporary increase of one police officer position at the rank of sergeant-detective for the same period.
