TASA Act of 2025

Summary#

This bill, the Territories Airport Support Act of 2025 (TASA Act of 2025), changes who can qualify for a special rule about project costs for airports in economically distressed communities. It amends section 47109(f) of title 49, United States Code. The bill replaces paragraph (1) to say an airport qualifies if it either (A) receives essential air service compensation under subchapter II of chapter 417, or (B) is located in a territory and was an eligible point under section 419 of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 on October 24, 1978.

What it means for you#

  • Airports that receive essential air service payments may now meet the updated definition for the special rule on project costs.
  • Airports in U.S. territories that were eligible points on October 24, 1978 may also meet the updated definition.
  • Local airport authorities, contractors, and communities served by those airports could see changes in whether the airport meets the statute’s special rule for project costs.
